That depends on allot of things, these are some of them:
How does he treat you, like an equal,or a child.
Are you really mature for your age, and totally understand what love is, or are you just trying to find a man to take all your problems & responsibilities away?
Are you looking for a long term thing, or just a short fling?
If the answer is a long term relationship, do you understand that he's already peaked sexually, and you haven't ( believe me, in my last marriage this caused us some real problems).
If you have thought out just a few of these things, and they are by no means all of the list, then you are ready to make your decision. Good luck, I know you'll go with your heart and do the right thing.

Shoot, I was 24 dating/living with a 44 year-old. He wanted my baby, but we were only together for 1-1/2 a he passed from cancer. We had things in common (except he liked being a bad boy and I prefer to be a sweetie).
As long as two people are adults, age is nothing but a number! Shoot, Anna Nicole was in her 20s when she married a guy who passed at 89. They were a happy couple. Sometimes age difference tend to work better than if you are the same age as your partner. It's all about what you have in common!

My Mom is 75, my Dad is 63. And that's a bigger age gap than you and your male friend.
Age is a number. If that number happens to be over 18, go for it.
