I don't own a television or a cell phone. I have owned them but they were distractions from being around others. Since I don't have them anymore I find I don't spend more time with others, just more peaceful moments. However I smile more at others and notice more often when someone interrupts the flow of traffic, a lot of others complain so why do I need to join in? I have also noticed that your complaint is false, always doubting. The next generation is smarter than the last, so what is being killed is fear, not loves. Trust in God, he is in control even when were not.

You know the answer: Instead of talking with us face to face you post the question on the Internet. The Internet is wonderful in reaching out for information but it also makes us withdrawn and distant. I work with computers but I did not see a computer until I was 22. Today you have to have the PC or Mac and cell and iPod and the video games. In the US we are interested in entertaining ourselves and buying things that make us happy. My wife and I watch TV and don't talk much after work. Then she jump on the 'net and I do something else. Before the 'net and cable we probably would have read a book or talked or played a board game.

I feel, that there are too many people having kids, that have no business having them...for one. As far as technology goes.. there is no stopping that...but, parents should set limits. Very few do though, I'm sad to say. You're right, families aren't what they used to be. I know plenty of people that can't stand even being around their family! Still, I wouldn't go as far as to say we are "killing the next generation of minds". The kids are getting smarter at younger ages, Learning more in school than your generation ever did. So, It's not all bad eh?

Media is a tricky thing, when people gathered to hear a rhapsode recite the Illiad were there ones who said this would cause the decline of society? Mein Kampf is a book does that make it family oriented? It is not the form of the media but the substance of the media. Isolation from the media robs children of cultural influences ( Spongebob had an episode that was Basicly Poe's Telltale Heart). The channel OLN covers college level math and science.Cell phones allow parents and children to better stay in touch. Parents neglected and beat their children before the advent of these technological marvels that educate and entertain.

Yes you are right, We are killing the minds of the next generation with the invention of all the fancy gadgets and not being used in limits makes them dependent on these gadgets. These people begin to depend on these fancy gadgets, and all want to own one when their friends have it

I hated my family and wanted as little interaction with them as possible. So technology is a good thing. Moving out is an even better thing.

I can recall times of playing video games with my family as well as going outside to play sports. We have always been told I love you, even now as adults. Parents need to be very involved with their children's lives and be disciplinarians when the time warrents them to be.
