where exactly can i find the code? i've been told it should be stamped or etched somewhere in truck.

no, its printed on a card in the owners manual which is usually lost by original owner, only way to retrieve it is take to dealer and it will show up on diagnostic report. sometimes its on a sticker on drivers side door jamb or glove box. plain white sticker with 5 numbers only. good luck

My 95 ford explorer had it hiddin on the left rear fender.
Open the little storage door in the rear compartment [drivers side]
where the jack is stored and look back in there with a flash light.
Or call your local Ford dealers service department and ask them.

Look in the manual there is a way to actually just change the code... well at least that is how it was on my expedition.

the other place it can be hidin at is sometimes they put in on a little plate that is located on top of your ecm
