In religious scripture (the Bible, the Qu'ron, etc.), is cannibalism explicitly permitted? I know that killing is, but if you ate someone that had been killed by someone else, would that be acceptable?

The question stems from this one: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20060831214057AAuWeNP&r=w&pa=FZptHWf.BGRX3OFMhDNVWB7s50AbX8WmX1UXlLLRck7GOVr80A--#NbUvWjq.VDjj_cXxc8l6

This isn't really necessary, but if you believe it is, can you offer the proper verse?

To my knowledge of these texts, I don't think so. But the places you'll want to look are Genesis (the story of Noah) and Leviticus, which contains Mosaic laws.

Cannibalism is in fact part of the Roman Catholic faith. During Mass a priest will say certain words over some bread and wine and turn them into the body and blood of Christ. The congregation then partakes of this feast.
They must believe that they are eating the actual flesh, there is no room for compromise or pretence in this matter.
In previous centuries when the Roman Catholic Church held Europe in its iron grip many thousands of people were persecuted and murdered for disputing this fact.

eating of the flesh as imprinted in the bible is interpreted as meats of livestocks... it does not pertain to human flesh at all. thereby there is no evidence of cannibalism being allowed or anything of it at all.

however, eating human flesh was practice during pagan times (mostly in african countries - though the existence of such is still under scrutiny). there, the belief is that you take in the courage, wisdom, strength, etc... of the one being eaten (meaning if you eat a christian or a jew or a moslem for that matter, you also take their faith?). eating human flesh is an unlawful act by today's standard and is equivalent of murdering someone. also, there were undisclosed reports of people in catasthropic disasters (after either being trapped or abandoned, etc...) have resort to consuming the remains of their dead companions, which i find too gross. in this case, would it be unlawful then to eat someone for one to survive? still, it has to be proven, though.

a sound question.... wait, i'll just try and bite of my finger (or my arm, maybe my foot)... then, tell me what you think of it or would you accept me as a friend, okay?... ciao.

I've heard of a religion that claims to be Christian in which a priest says some hocus pocus on a piece of bread and then declares that it has has turned into the flesh of God, and then the adherants are required to cannibalize their god. I guess that's their take on John 1:12.

idk... it would be strange if canabilisim where not permited by the bible because does not jesus say something along the lines of "eat this all of you, for it is my body, and it shall be given up for you, and drink from this cup, for it is my blood..."

i thought it was symbolic... but when i asked the preist about it he said that when he blesses (or w/e he does) the eucarist and wine that it BECOMES the body and blood of christ.

i would laugh my @ss off if it wernt permited.
