I know this sounds rather idiotic to most people, but I really like to make new friends especially with Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking individuals (between the ages of 22 and 29). The main reason is that I want to learn the respective language and the speaker's culture. Perhaps we can learn from each other. Moreover, as implied, I would like to become fluent in both languages and am possibly contemplating a move to either Argentina, Brazil, or Peru at least for a temporary assignment. Your suggestions and advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

You can always buy a bunch of audio tapes that translate english to the language that you are trying to speak. I'm sure they might even have some sort of device where you can tell it what language you want it to speak and you say it in english and it says it in the correct language.
