Unfortunately, EazyE is right. Evolution has wired us in such a way that we seem to need an explanation for everything to the point we'll make up an answer if we have to.
It was evolutionarily advantageous for an early pre-science culture to have the ability to believe on faith -- otherwise they wouldn't have been able to keep up with the necessities of SURVIVAL.

They don't. You can see the influence of reliigion in the Middle East where the three major religions of christianity, islam and judaism are knocking seven kinds of sh*t out of each other and the whole world is suffering because of it. And this is not a new thing, it's been going on for centuries. And they have the brass neck to tell us how holy their god is.
These are good times to be an atheist and have clean hands.

According to the bible hell is the common grave to mankind. Answer my question the bible states that God is love now Why would a God of love want to send people to be tormented forever? Silly. And the bible at Pslam 115:16 said that God created the earth for mankind and the heavens for himself.
Only 144,000 will go to heaven not to drink milk and honey but to rule with christ. And for the rest of faihful ones like myself will live on paradise earth forever. You are very selfish you were created along with everything around you start believing in God. Look at his creation and think about now do yourself a favour and read the bible from cover to cover. Since you have nothing to do why not start reading the first chapter tonight.

The problem is you make an assumption you couldnt possibly hope to prove. (that God doesnt exist) Being that most people have religious beliefs it is YOU that is in the minority. So the Q is what is wrong with you?
Do you not realize the gamble you take what it comes to your soul? Why would anybody risk their eternal soul? I already know the answer to that one but do you?
What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? -Matthew 16:26

Because the Bible has never proven false. Look carefully, any argument against it is superficial. If the bible is infallible, then there is a God. How then can you explain the origin of the universe, the creation of man (evolutionists have yet to produce any evidence of macroevolution), and the seemingly impossible coincidence that we just happen to be placed on the only planet in the galaxy that can sustain life? Surely we will always need God.

This day and age, I'd say that, if anything, we need God even more than ever. I mean, look at how the world is falling apart. War is everywhere, people in poverty and everybody trying to take advantage of everybody else. If people started living more by religious principles it would really clean up the place!

Revelation 1:8
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
It doesn't matter if it is 3006, we will always need God. You should think of Judgment day. Is your name in the Book of Life?

What is special about 2006? Do you think you are so advanced that you don't need a God. Man will always need God now and in the future.

I agree with you on radical religion. While a lot of suffering has happened at the hand of radical religious nut jobs, the body count of the terrorists does not compare to the tens of millions who died during WWII, or who died in Stalin's purges and gulags. The godless dictators seem to be worse than the religious zealots.
We in America have freedom and access to education. We don't have too many places where people have no choice but to think as they are told by religious zealots. In the Islaam world, they don't have too many places where open minded inquiry is permitted.
Get this straight - God isn't religion. Religion isn't God. Religion crucified Jesus Christ. Extreme Islaam is fascism in religious garb. The absolute rule of the state and the absolute rule of the religious leaders is about the same thing. But do not confuse that with God. Belief in God informs our moral behavior. God encourages you to think for yourself and to argue with him if you would like. Without an understanding of God, where do we get the idea of love, forgiveness, redemption, morality, beauty or even science? I can get there without religion but you have to acknowledge that religion at its best does pretty well teaching us to be better citizens, supports the arts, and feeds the hungry across the world. At its best, religion organizes moral teaching and conduct. At its worst, it does all of the sh*t you are talking about.
In truth, God is dying to save you ... and to liberate you from all of the terror of hell and fear of being zapped for wrongdoing. God loves you ... it is Satan who is dying to zap the wrong-doers to hell. God offers redemption, the prince of darkness is the one who condemns. If you are looking for moral relativism, there is not much room for God and everything I'm saying will sound like unmitigated bull sh*t to you. If you are looking for a clearer understanding of how to behave morally, and how to live your life well, you should consider looking for a new way to experience God. Maybe there is a good side to him after all.
Without a firm understanding that all men are subject to a higher law, we would have tyranny. Hell, the earth was covered with tyranny for most of human history. The Romans - who had a clear understanding of the rule of law - were the first to bring order and a civilization worth preserving. The Magna Carta - 1215 - is one of the first documents to say that the king is subject to the same law as the rest of us - that he is subject to the judgment of God. That isn't so different from Cicero's writings on natural law and Christian teaching that we are all ulitmately responsible to God. I'm ok with that deal, since God is just and benevolent. I'll take God's judgment over the merciful kindness of Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot or any other dictator any day.
Dude, you sort of have a choice as to which god you will serve, as Bob Dylan said. There is no need to worship religion. But if you don't acknowledge that law comes from a source greater than man, you are buying into the philosophy that made Stalin, Hitler, Mao and all of the rest possible. Nietzche said that God is dead ... nothing is left but the survival of the fittest - the uberman. Hitler and Stalin thought that was a great idea.
The religious exgtremists you cite pretend to speak for God. I judge them by their actions, not by who they claim to serve.
