I asked if any prisoners were on this site once, but didn't get any answers from any prisoners. I have seen references to questions that spoke of things to do with prison, tho... (which is what made me ask.) It would sure add another element to 'answers' wouldn't it!

I noticed that your answers are varying, however, leaning more to the assumption that inmates do have access to the internet. Well, it so happens that I've spent a total of thirteen years behind the wall and never did I or any other convict that I was housed around, have access to the internet. Im not saying this is so in all cases but in the state of California, INMATES DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET.

It depends upon the state in which the inmate is from...also, it depends upon the usage.
I taught CO inmates in OK...sounds weird, just go with me. They were not allowed access to the Internet except when taking an exam for certification...which would help them to get a legitimate JOB upon release. It was closely monitored though...very closely.
I did see something about some inmates having access to the Internet on Myspace in CA. I would imagine that is for special circumstances...but I really have no idea. I hate to think that my tax dollars would pay for someone's entertainment...free tv is enough.

Yes they have access to the internet and some even how websites, e-mail addresses, dating profiles etc. etc.

relies upon on which penitentiary they're in. i have heard of prisons with internet get admission to, yet there are others which do not have. i imagine the revenue they make are saved of their monetary employer account or donated to charity.

different country allow different things.
some prison don't allow anything and only let them see four wall. some other will make them as labours and some will treat them well but cannot use internet.
but for some other countries it is a yes. for singapore, they are allowed to surf the internet for 30mins each day.
which country are you refering to??
