The timing is adjustable on this engine. Be sure to properly set the points, as timing is affected by the correct point setting. Fill the fuel tank with the grade fuel you wish to operate on. Then advance the timing until it starts to spark knock on acceleration, then back it off until there is no more spark knock. Your timing is now set properly for the fuel you are operating on and no need for a timing light or anything else.

As for fuel, unleaded is your only option. This engine was designed to operate on leaded fuel. Lead provided lubrication for the engine valves and helped control spark knock as well. Over time this engine will require a valve job as valve damage will likely occur on unleaded fuel. I'd deal with it at that time, it will take a while and I suspect that you do not drive this slick ride as a daily driver.

I appreciate the opportunity to remember this great car. My cousin had a '65 Sprint, 289 Hi-Po, 4 spd positrac diffy. Ran great, was fast and was fun to ride around in. He bought it new. And we could tinker with it.

Go with the unlraded not diesel. I take it the car has the orginial motor in it. That was designed to run on reg leaded gas. Diesel will caus ecarb problems and eventually burn out the engine beside smokeing a lot. Be a shame to ruin a good car. I owned 3 2 wagons and a 2 door. Don't make them as good any more

ok a mint sixty 5 falcon with what engine, what carb, what transmition. ok for them maximum section, any of the autos made in the previous gas became the comparable as liquid gold era use gas. The engines at the instant are not as stable as a clean automobile. desktops to run the motor vehicle engine Ha! back then a working laptop or computing device became the dimensions of a warehouse and projected that as they grew to become quicker their length could basically boost! I see from EBay that sixty 5 Falcons had a 4 cylinder as much as a 8 cylinder, so the 4 cylinder could get extra suited gas than the 8.

don't put diesel fuel in it. Unless it's had a diesel engine dropped into it. I'm not sure whether you would regular unleaded or not.

Regular unleaded, unless it has been rebuilt with harder valves you will also need to purchase a lead subistute to add to the gas.

The unleaded fuel burns hotter and the older valves won't handle it so they might burn out. This is expensive so either use the subistute or have the engine valves replaced with newer harder ones.
