Typed in Rich text. Saved in Word so attachment to email might work better. Cannot even get it to open, so I can change it back to anything I can read. I have the icon on desktop.

First copy the file to another folder and work with teh copy. Right click the file and hit open with....select note pad and see if you can read it. The font and characters might change some but it should be readable. DO NOT check the "always use this program" box.

If you saved it in RTF, WordPad should open it.

If that won't work, either get the Word Viewer and open the document and copy and paste it to a .txt document or snag a copy of Open Office. Open Office is a free MS Office compatible suite that can handle Word docs natively.

Try right clicking on the file, and selecting "Open with", this should pop up a menu and you should be able to select to open it with WordPad instead of Word, or with Notepad if WordPad isn't available. Try WordPad first though, or you might lose any formatting that you have in there.

It sounds like a free trial of the software has expired. If you have Office 2007, and it was a free trial, then the trial has expired, and the features are disabled. Microsoft does this automatically when the trial period expires. If this is what you have (a free trial of office 2007 in expiration state) then you either have to buy the software, or else use another alternative software.

Sometimes you can even preview the doc in yahoo mail... cut and paste from there if all else fails.
