I listened to the news and he said he would not withdraw troops until we have achieved victory. He did not expand on what he meant by victory, nor did the reporter ask.

i think he was purposefully being open ended.

as long as there has been a middle east, islams and non islams have been fighting each other. its not going to stop just because there is an american military presence in the middle east....because that is exactly the reason they are fighting us

He wants the Iraqi government to be able to take care of itself. Since Iraq is also being attacked by outside forces, a military victory would probably be impossible unless most of the Muslims in the world were killed. A date of a major withdrawal of U.S. forces is coming. The thought of 12-18 months is now thought to be realistic by the president of Iraq. I'm sure there would be fighting for decades, because, paraphrasing Thomas Jefferson, Muslims like to kill.

His definition of victory of the war in Iraq is by proving the whole world he has the full power over all powerful countries including Iraq.

The shrub has declared war on terror somewhat like Canute declared sovereignty over the sea. He has always declared victory in Iraq once already. The Goddess knows what he means about anything as truth and simple realty seems to be concepts he can't grasp. What he believes or listens to about the situation no one can or will tell.
