DONT GIVE HER SO MUCH

2006-08-31 17:20:08 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 1 3

How do I stop my 3 yr old daughter from drinking too much formula?

1st of all, WHY is she still on formula? If the doc still wants her on it for some reason, he/she should let you know how much to give your daughter.

2nd of all, she is only 3. Since when do you have to ask how to STOP a three year old from doing anything.

3rd of all, you are the parent. RIGHT?? Moms and dads are supposed to have control of the children. What ever happened to getting something to drink/eat only when it is time to have it at the dinner table? We never went around drinking anything anytime we wanted and none of us were dehydrated or hungry. If we wanted something to drink, MOM would get it for us and we would have to drink it in the kitchen.

What is wrong with this picture? Was I born too long ago, 1955? I thought we were being treated right, but who knows now.

Your daughter should have stopped regular formula at 12 months (and been on a step up formula until 18 months, only if you wanted). From 12 months on homo milk (whole milk) is recommended (extra fat content is good for brain development) at 2 you can give your child any milk you drink, but you should go off homo because they don't need that extra fat for brain development anymore, but they will develop a taste for fats if they keep getting higher fat content milk. Being on formula for so many extra years, is your daughter huge? I am assuming that she eats a regular diet of food as well as the formula.

Your daughter shouldn't even be getting formula anymore. She should be on Whole milk by now. Slowly start mixing more and more milk into her formula until she's on a milk only.

Stop giving her formula, she 3 yrs old she should be on regular milk and solid foods by now, unless doctor ordered she shouldn't need formula. either quit her cold turkey or start diluting formula with regular milk and wean her off. :)

Formula? At three years old?! I guess that's a whole lot better than breast feeding!

When she asks for it say NO! Who is the parent? You are and besides you're stronger. Just let her cry it out cause she will do that and not get tired. Just don't give in :)
