I was raised christian and then I went to college and lost my faith for about a year and turned to the wiccan ways and then came back to christianity. my question is WHY if being christian is so great do I feel more depressed whenever I'm practicing the christian faith than when I'm practicing wicca? I don't understand it.

Maybe it's because you are being forced or feel like you are practicing a phoney faith.

I don't follow organized religion.

Maybe you need to study and find your faith elsewhere, other than in a church or group of christians.

I had a very bad experience here at answers. A girl, maybe on a lark, said she was contemplating MURDER and people here told her GOD and JESUS would forgive her.

She hadn't yet done the murder, she was just talking about it, but yet people here said GOD and JESUS would forgive her and she'd go to heaven.

If that is Christianity, I'd rather be an atheist.

That concept has no MORALS, no SCRUPLES.

If it's that simple, then we don't need churches or the bible. We just need Jesus and then we can go off and do whatever we want for we are saved.

Get my point.

Maybe you are looking for something that has more meaning than what you are getting in Church on Sundays.

For if they are teaching you it's cool to murder, then being a Wicca can't be all that bad!

Stop reading and listening to man.

Read God and Jesus.

Read the start of Genesis, read the 10 commandments, read all the disciples accounts of Jesus.

Then start formulating your own view of the world.

Without knowing more about you, it sounds like you are practicing Christian principles, but relying on your own strength to do so. You say "raised Christian" and "being Christian," which stands out as being "religion" rather than a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Religion without the relationship is extremely empty and fulfilling.

If you've never done so, you need to consider the claims of Christ (try reading the book of John) and decide if you want to lay your life at His feet and become a follower. If you have done so in the past, perhaps you need to renew your relationship by praying and reading your Bible and spending time getting to know God better and learning to rely on Christ's strength to live the Christian life.

Lissa, I know exactly how you feel with one minor difference, I was rasied Jewish.

I practiced Wicca/Witchcraft for many years, and 3 years ago I accepted Christ. And I know exactly how you feel. At times I wonder and ask, and cry out to God, "Why is this so hard?!" And I think to myself, "Only if I had my athame, tarot cards, some candles and incense...I could do some damage." I actually began delving into the darker arts before my salvation, thank goodness God came to my rescue when He did!

Anyhow, faith is tough in this fleshly state we reside in. Our spirits are really not compatible with this vessel. But the only way we can make it compatible, is with the blood of Jesus covering us.

Phil 4:13 "I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me."

This was the first scripture ever shared with me by a very brave Christian, and a very good friend today...He did not have to share that with my husband and I, but He did. But my point for sharing it with you is because even though those fo us who came to Christ directly out of a Pagan lifestyle; we feel at times like we can't do everything through Him. We feel, "Why God? Why is this so hard!?" And all he calls us to do is have faith that we can do it with Him, all we have to do is be patient with Him, and ourselves.

One question I ask myself a lot concerning things that pop up and frustrate me and cause pain for me at times is:

"Will it make a difference 5 years from now?"

If the answer is no (which most times, it is), then I need not worry about it. I hear also a great quote today,

"If you worry, you didn't pray . If you pray, don't worry. "

Keep praying, keep the faith, keep believing. You can do ALL things through Christ Jesus! All means all, and that's all, all means. :)

Contact me if you want me to share where I got that quote from...the last one I posted about worry. :)

I don't think anyone online can answer this, hon. Why did you leave Christianity in the first place? Why did you come back? If, as a couple of answers implied, it was out of fear, it wouldn't be surprising that you're depressed all the time. I doubt that's it, though.

I strongly urge you to find someone at church you can talk to about this face to face. Don't worry that they'll judge you - doubts and uncertainties are perfectly normal. If you can't think of anyone at church you'd trust with this, then perhaps you need to find another church.

I'm sure several of us will be praying for you. Remember - God is Love. He accepts you however you feel. Good luck!

Congratulations on your recent rededication with the Lord. Given your background, I don't think it's very realistic to expect to pick right up where you left off without some opposition from the enemy. Wicca claims to empower its constituents, and many times this is very appealing to potential members. However, the power that God gives is greater (Acts 1:8; Luke 24:49). I would reccomend you spend lots of time in prayer, not for petitioning God, but to start a fresh walk with Him. God Bless - Don't give Up!

There are many possibilities. Because I don't know you personally, I can't say for sure which of these examples, if any, fit your situation. However, right now I am discovering these things to be true in my life. I hope they help you.

~Christians need to be connected to other people. Church is one way to be with other like-minded individuals. There are also other ways, like listening to sermons on the radio, being with friends, etc.

~Christians need to grow in their relationships to God. This includes prayer, reading and studying the Bible, spending time alone with God, etc.

~Another possibility is that you might be preoccupied with the practices of Christianity as opposed to the Person of Christ. Christ is the core of being Christian-- not laws or procedures. There are rules to be followed, of course, but God has set us free from the old Law with the atoning death of Christ. Our focus should be on Jesus, not legalism. That's not to say that sin is okay, but we, as Christians, are not burdened by the Law.

God bless. Please contact me if you want more info or anything.

Since you have opened the door to the demonic world, demons have a legal right to be in your life. These demonic spirits are oppressing you. They are trying to discourage your faith. The only way is to go to a Spirit Filled Church. They will be able to Minister the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. They can lead and direct you. Then you be able to help others like yourself. People think that it is harmless to dable in the occult, but they do not know what they are getting into. It is hard to get out. Only by the Blood of Jesus will you be able to over come your depression. I did! E-Mail me anytime if you want more info. I am glad that you are seeking deliverence.

Sincerely Yours, Pastor Jeff Ludin

Please don't think I'm being harsh or judgmental. It's hard and often hurts when God convicts your heart for sinning. Wicca is a beautiful idea but just that. It allows you to live the sinful life with out consequences. When you turn back to Jesus he shows you your faults.
Hang in there keep praying and don't give up. It will get better.
God Bless you!

It could be that the "kind" of Christianity you've been taught isn't what it should be. There are many different denominations, and some can make you feel terrible. Try a different denomination and see if your feelings change. Pentecostalism tends to make people feel pretty good sometimes. Of course the messages you hear shouldn't always be sunshine and roses, because that's not what life is about. But you should always feel hopeful, optimistic, and loved.
And yes wicca is about worshiping demon spirits. But people who are worshiping them don't realize that's what they're worshipping. One of satan's big lies.
