Thank you all for your answers they were all very helpful especially from freeandsimpl. As for stanitruk I'm not a loser and I do have a good life and a big family but when you're suddenly striken with a disease you become very vulnerabl and desparate and you will do anything to get back to your old self even for a day.

When my husband and I divorced I need Prozac. It seemed to do the trick.

As for suddenly being stricken with a disease, I can relate only as far as being taken by surprise. I suffer from kidney disease and I do dialysis 3 times a week. I have had 2 failed kidney transplants and am currently waiting for the third. I have never let it depress me. I have come to accept that my life will NEVER be the same again. Instead of letting my illness get me down, I thank God every day that I am still alive. Without the dialysis treatments I would be dead within 3 weeks.

You need to accept your illness. I know it's hard to go from being healthy to being sick, but there are others MUCH worse off then yourself. Be grateful there are medications and procedures to assist you. Others aren't so lucky.

there's no such thing as a good Rx anti-depressant they all have their side effects and stop working after time. STAY AWAY from Paxil which has a HUGE lawsuit against them and is like taking coke when you get off of it. Zyprexa makes you gain weight like crazy so stay away from that unless you're ok with that.

Jenna, I don't know how severe your depression is. I'd probably recommend Prozac if the depression is minor, but if it is moderate to severe, then I highly recommend Effexor (Venlefaxine). It has helped me immensely. Good luck and take care : )

Excercise, volunteering, just staying active mentally and physically. Try to do the stuff that you have always wanted to do.
just plz try to stay away from the prescriptions, all i hear is they make stuff worse...unless MAYBE the depression is severe enough.

Definitely only take them under the supervision of your doctor. But an excellent one is Lexapro. Ask you doctor about it.

Don't worry about what other people think about your depression. They don't know anything.
I took one called ALTRULINE. It is great.
I recomend you too LEXAPRO
Lexapro I know it is fast and no side effects. My sister takes it when she is so down and needs quick results
