It's best you start off being nice, as you more than likely have. If he doesn't understand what you're telling him though, then you need to move up to being much more stern with him. Not mean, not yet. He should respect your wishes if you make them clear to him. So be sure that you give him the whole story. If you don't want him calling you ever, make sure you explain that to him. If he keeps on, I don't see why you can't be mean? It may be the only way to get it through his head.

well since he wont go away and you dont want to be mean then send a friend to tell him to bug off!
he obviously likes you which is why he keeps on hanging around you. he probably admires you. well i have the same problem so if you dont want to tell a friend then say it nice but also mean.
just be like hi we need to talk i like you as a friend and no more then that so i kinda need my space but we could still be friends.
thats the nicest way you can say it.
if you want to say it mean then say why you breathin in my air i need some space your all up on me as if we an item and its annoying. then walk away well hope you find my answer worthwhile. if hes still up on you then go with the mean well good luck.

Okay, kidding aside, if you already told him seriously that you didn't like him, tell him that you're really anoyed by his behaviour, and that you're finding him more childish by the minute. That you're not wellcoming his advances, and never will.
