the teachings about karma sounds not only stupid but downright cruel as well. when kids are born into poverty and violance, but when given the chance of a better education they do well in life. so some kids really beat the term karma ok.
live a good life and die you are born into a rich family. but lot of rich people get rich by exploiting others. where does the term karma fit in here?
do bad during this life and you are born as a dog. how can one elevate him or her self to a higher plain from a dog, when a dog cant decide how to do good?
leave the poor unfortunate kids to live as slaves for others because thats their karma or destiny right?

where does these stupid and cruel buddhist teachings of karma fit in with modern humanism?

Atheists do not bash they explain.

Anywho, all faiths seem silly. They are based on faith.

The majority of your questions in one way or another bash the beliefs of other people. Before you take the time and effort to write out these long diatribes about religion and theology, I would suggest that you educate yourself at least a little bit about the beliefs you are choosing to attack. If they don't make sense to you, perhaps a little study will shed some light on why so many people follow it. Read a book. Perhaps talk to a Buddhist or Hindu about their beliefs and maintain an open mind. Calling something "stupid" when you don't fully understand it yourself is like laughing at Tom Edison for playing for weeks on end with filaments and glass bulbs.

Here, I'll get you started: Buddhism talks about reincarnation in terms of the pain you experience in life. You continue to experience that pain throughout each reincarnation until you achieve nirvana, a state in which you can escape the cycle of rebirth and identify yourself with the eternal. As far as karma is concerned, in the grand scheme of Buddhism and Hinduism, it's not about getting punished for doing something bad within a single lifetime, necessarily, but you only ascend to higher levels of enlightenment by doing good and seeking truth within yourself. If you do not do these things, you are obviously not ready to progress, and your reincarnation will most likely place you in a position where you will learn the most. Within that single lifetime (as a dog, for instance), you may not understand the lesson you're being taught, but your spirit will as it progresses from life to life.

Good luck on your own search for truth. Perhaps eventually you will learn to accept that the rest of the world does not think the way you do, and that is as it should be.

This is truly sad to see... such anger towards others. I thought humanism was also about foster and encouraging growth and understanding among people.
If you are an example of humanism - ick -

If you really don't like people that have a faith or the concept of faith / religion / spirituality - why are you using this area, it is after all for exploring religion and spirituality.

Unless you have made a religion of your anger - double ick - I would prefer that you, as would others based on the responses I've read, not use this section to display your disregard and anger for others.

As to slaves, they are found through out history, right or wrong doesn't make much difference. There will always be people that wish to enslave others, be it in bondage, sweatshops, drugs for what they see as their own "advancement" and power.

Anger is in it's self a form of slavery and I would recommend you get help for your anger before you hurt someone or yourself.

With a name like ahmed, this person who has questioned has to be a muslim. Therefore I will reply to this question with islam in mind.

First of all budhhism and hinduism maybe similar but they are not of the same concept.

The teachings of karma are hindu teachings. Budhhism came much later.

Ok so now we talk of stupidity. Well it is better to be called stupid then to be called a rapist, murderer, terrorist, thief and torturrer.

That is what muslims are. Look around you and learn your religion.

You have killed one billion people approximately in India alone over the 1400 years that you have occupied hindu land.

The one billion who are alive right now are going around half dead because you have tortured them so much that they have forgotten what self esteem and equal rights means.

Muslims want equal rights or more rights but do not want to give rights. Muslims are perpetrators in India so why are they there?

Muslims are cruel people. They come in the night and terrorise people and take their property. First Afghanistan, then Pakistan and Bangladesh and now Kashmir.

They multiply like animals so that they can one day take over the whole world.

Who is stupid? Hindus? YOu should be dying of shame that you eat kaffir food and live on kaffir land and rape their women and steal their property.

Hindus might be stupid but muslims are murderers, rapists and thieves.

I would rather be called stupid the be called a cruel terrorist who does not think twice about violating human rights.

Muslims have no shame and no integrity. I think you just dont have a conscience.

If you pluck out just certain points from any religion, they can seem bizarre. You have to look at any religion as a whole.

Christians drink "the blood of Christ"- vampires? Muslims believe in "holy war"- contradiction there. You can go on and on.

But Karma on a simple basis is doing things to better lives, kind of like the Golden Rule. How can that NOT fit into modern humanism?

I say you are ignorant and foolish. Who in the blue hell are you to judge other faiths? What gives you the right? Your pea-sized brain? I'll say this:

Its not who you are now that affects your present life or your future. Its who we are in our past lives which influences who we are today. If u do good now, you accumulate good karma which will help you in the future as well as in your next life. If you are rich but selfish, you would not just be hated by others, but also accumulate bad karma which would affect your family which will get despised by others. If you are evil enough, yeah you end up a pig destined to be cooked or get reincarnated without legs thats how harsh it is! You can never run away from the consequences of your actions. What you reap is what you sow.

TO JULIE: APOLOGIES FOR GIVING U A LOW RATING, I CLICKED ON IT WITHOUT GETTING YOUR SARCARSM.

"Karma" means "action with consequence". Every thought we have and every thing we do, it all has an effect on the world. And what we give is what we'll receive, in our present life or in the future(s). This continous chain of birht-death-rebirth gives us the chance to improve our understanding of life and to reach illumination, which has nothing to do with wealth or status: the truth is not really "out there", it's inside every one of us.

I think "karma" is a very interesting concept.

P.S. I don't answer to your question about karma's relation with "modern humanism" 'cause I think you should try to open your mind to other ways of looking at the world. You sound so "West-centered"!
PS2: Just like everybody else, I think that all religions deserve respect.

Hindus do have faith in spirit communique, it incredibly is for particular, yet this physique of wisdom is a heavily guarded secret of especially Tantrics and can be discovered by a guru. The emphasis on "instructor-Disciple" relationship for studying is via inherent negative aspects in contact. Spirits many times desire a medium to speak, and a great style of a time the spirit refuses to go away the medium. purely that souls which has no longer attained moksha, could be invoked. it rather is all i comprehend.

Why are you bothered by teachings of another culture? Why and who do you think you are calling stupid. Remember when you point your finger at someone there are three fingers pointing back.

Can you not let my beliefs be mine, I didn't attack you. Yes as far as you have learned some of my religion, why should it bother you if I live and believe this way. Have I encrouched on your space? Have handed you a knife to kill yourselve. Is there not enough Hatred in the world to have your mind on other things. Buddish is only of the mind, body and soul of life. I have not attacked you in your beliefs. So how is that you attack my beliefs as stupid so that you can feel better about yourself and you try for me to feel worse about myself? Where is the reasoning here. I am so confused please tell me? May your Soul be kind and good to you all your life.

These two faiths aren't stupid at all. You have to understand that you can't judge religions and cultures by your standards, They don't have your way of thinking, and they're not humanist. Therefore, they will not fit in with modern humanism

Nothing can beat the stupidity of the three monotheistic faiths. Karma, as stupid as it sounds, still at least tries to explain the universe without the logically disproven omnipotence concept.
