Both are addictive and downers. Both should be illegal except for medicinal purposes.

I personally believe that marijuana should be legalized and made a "controlled substance" for a period of time to see how it works out. It's an excellent analgesic (for pain). I also believe it can treat anxiety disorders in people who are not paranoid personality types. I agree with you for the most part. However, marijuana has it's negative effects too if used in excess: Lack of motivation, memory loss and ADDICTION. A person can become addicted to marijuana and suffer withdrawal symptoms. They're usually not as severe as alcohol withdrawal, but some withdrawal symptoms are extremely uncomfortable (headache, diarrhea, agitation, insomnia and maybe a few more).

After researching the legal treatments for depression, anxiety and other illnesses, I don't see a huge difference in the long term side effects. I won't even mention what Effexor did to me the first day I took it. I've never reacted to marijuana the way I did to Effexor. Not to mention some of the other SSRI antidepressants and central nervous system stimulants doctors are handing out like candy. Pretty soon, Prozac and/or Adderall is going to replace the free toy in boxes of cereal.

It's truly a hypocritical law, intended to control a "free country."
I'd like to know how any government can actually outlaw a PLANT. Poinsettia plants are extremely toxic to cats, but I don't see a ban on those.

Weed is illegal due to early propoganda. They were either too lazy or too uneducated back then to tax the heck out of if like they do alcohol, so they illegalized it.

Illegalization leads to revenue because they cash in on illegal sellers/buyers

In my opinion,, of all the highs pot is the lesser evil (even though I can't smoke it) Think about it,, how many people do you hear about come home high on pot and beat their family??? Next to none,, Why?? Because pot makes ya too happy and non complacent to care what's upsetting you plus you're too messed up to care lol

Pot makes people who use it feel insecure at times and they'll come home high and want to feel the security of their spouse of loved one (I had a pot smoking spouse who also was a drinker) He'd come home all scared and needing someone to just love him. When he was drunk he'd be a maniacal paranoid depressed power freak ready for battle (which caused part of the divorce) If pot were legal, we'd prolly still be married today,, alcohol,,, not a chance!

Alcohol is a depressent,, depressed violent people come home and hurt. So I can't see the logic in whats legal and whats not

Another thing,, pot tends to make people think and can help people remember things long term while under the influence. Alcohol makes you forget. The government wouldn't want ANYONE to have a good memory of anything in the past now,, they's want us to forget!

Ridiculous decisions ??
The government of course..
Something has to be illegal and they tried to make alcohol illegal
but prohibition was a disaster so they made weed the big deal so all the bureaucrats & law enforcement folks could keep their jobs...
The US war on drugs is a massive government employment program....

I wouldnt say its not addictive, not physicaly but in some cases it is mentaly, and the illegal thing, its cause our government is stupid and would rather waste time chasing potheads and weed dealers than concentrate on muderers and crack dealers and save money and man hours

because the families who own distilleries and other alcohol producing businesses got here first.

that's the only reason. one being legal and the other illegal is completely arbitrary, imho.

Didn't you listen to your propaganda? I think you need to watch refer madness to show you why weed is illegal. They don't lie or even stretch the truth in it and it shows you why pot should be illegal.

I hate weed and I hate alcohol, although I never have and never will try either of them. They are disgusting, and when a person uses either of them, they are disgusting. They both need to become illegal.

Weed is addictive. You need to educate yourself on the effects of Marijuana before you come on here spouting off baseless BS.
