Probably not. But if they're "resting" on the toilet for too long, I don't want to be the one to go in after them. :)

I think the name "restroom" is really more of an aesthetic thing than a literal thing. I don't think anyone would want to say, "Oh, I need to go to the toilet room" or something like that. I guess restroom makes some sense because a person is sitting down doing their business and it is in a space where they are alone. I don't know. I hear some people even read in the restroom. Interesting thought, though.

Depends on whether you find sitting on the commode as restful:) I really don't know where that euphemism originated, but I suppose it sounds better than "toilet", and in public places, you wouldn't necessarily call it a "bathroom" either, since you don't take baths in there. There are a lot of impolite names that could have been given to that necessary facility, but "restroom" seems to be the proper term.

there is no rest in the restroom for me.

i am one of those that has the whole phobia thing and can't sit on the actual seat.

so i actually get a bit of a workout for the upper legs while i am hovering careful.
and if i have to make piddle super bad, then it becomes a race to see how many of those seat gaskets that i can get into the toilet before i start piddling.
