Can someone elaborate on scholarship essays and quotations/sources?

It is important to use proper grammer and documentation, particularly when someone is going to be evaluating you on that basis. You don't need anything overly fancy just something like, "As such and so said in such and such".

No no, the quotations and sources are for a term paper. The essay is judged on use of grammar and punctuation. Also, it is judged on your ability to discuss YOUR point of view on the subject.

There should be format and context instructions. It should tell you whether you include a bibliography, etc.

You can summarize or interpret something you have read for your paper, and refer to it as your source - quoting (depending on your topic - and how much you quote) can look lazy.

If no instructions, ask the source or your teacher about the rules.

Yes, they do: they want sources whcih you can give by listing books and papers you have read on the back or 'sources' sheet of your work
