I noticed some scaring from a surgery on my chest about a week ago and realized I couldn't remember what I'd had surgery for. Throughout the next few days I realized by talking with my family i'm missing several years of memories right up to that day I saw the scars. The surgery was just a few months ago and I have no memory of it. I went to the beach last month and can't even begin to recall any of it and I only know my family and people I have known for at least 5 years. I've been examined for head injuries and have none which is great. Everyone I talk to doctor wise is in no hurry to pull out whatever is blocking my memories. The earliest appointment I could get is 3 weeks away but I can't work or function well like this. How can I take control of my treatment or am I just being anxious?

I wouldn't say you are _just_ being anxious, but it does seem as if you are in no immediate danger. Many times, memory loss will resolve itself over time, and in some cases, therapy can help - once a physical cause has been ruled out. One thing that won't help is a lot of anxiety. You are functioning and you can deal with daily life. For the moment, go with that and seek help - as you are doing. It sounds like you are doing what needs to be done, except relaxing and letting nature take its course. Just do what you need to do and be patient.

And the B vitamin complex can't hurt, either!

You have a very rare condition and there are no quick fixes. Be patient and work with your doctors. You will have lots of tests and hopefully they will come up with an explanation. Good luck!
