You people amaze me-you read in your history books he tyranny and suffering that prevailed in the days of kings-always warring one another-always lives lost-always wanting to expand their kingdoms-ALL EXAMPLES of what is written in YOUR BIBLE-a form of government that was used to control the populace. We fought to dissolve this relationship and immigrated to fight the indians for OUR Freedom-and lied in THE NAME OF YOUR KING-God-and stole the lands we handed in treaties-but then we captured millions of slaves and put them to work with a monarchist government over their heads and called it JUSTICE-because it said it was permitted in The Bible-We then WAR our own-and make the slaves free-but still refer to a book that has caused nothing but submissive subversion, anger and dysfunction-AND YET YOU HOLD ON TO THIS MANUSCRIPT OF KING JAMES! We are now in a Capitalistic society that is crumbling because U REFUSE TO LET FREEDOM RING! U base freedom on YOUR RELIGIONS GUIDELINES-it is wrong!

YOU ALSO HAVE THE CHOICE TO FOLLOW GOD OR NOT BECAUSE HE GAVE YOU THE CHOICE! THERE WERE OTHER PPL IN THE GROUP THAT CAME TO AMERICA THAT WEREN'T CHRISTIANS AND THEIR INFLUENCE WAS ALSO INVOLVED IN THE DECISIONS. PPL MAKE HUMAN MISTAKES BECAUSE OF THE WORLD'S NON CHRISTIAN VIEWS AND BECASUE IT IS OUR NATURE. Read the Bible a little bit more carefully. God was the king of Israel, but Israel asked for an earthly king--like the other nations had. God told them that things would be bad for them with a human king, but He let them have what they desired. Guess what? Human kings are bad news!
The Bible teaches that we are right now living under a king of this world--Satan gets to rule for a time. Guess what? Satan is not such a great king either as exemplified by all of your ranting above. But good news--Jesus Christ is one day going to reign, and He will be a great and perfect king--perfect in His wisdom, perfect in His justice, perfect in His love and compassion and kindness and gentleness and goodness and on and on.
Your "historical" analysis is skewed because you assume that if someone claims authority from Scripture that the authority is there. Just because things have been done in God's name, doesn't mean those things please Him. The Bible teaches there are many such people, and they don't know Him and don't represent Him.

OK your angry! but its true, remember what happens when we amalgamate church and state. God hasn't talked to us in nineteen thousand years, save for a few televangelists (please!) If we set our government up to deal with religeon it'd be a ******* mess.
The United States would be completely abandoining its original purpose. A big part of the originally sought freedom was escaping religeous persecution.
I have something to say to all you "gods name-one god" christians.
The bible was written to aid in imperialization. Although it is a great teaching tool it is flawed with suggestive crap that was put there to help build "christian empires" which were infact kingdoms ruled by hypocrite power hungry kings, claiming to be the voice of god. Thats when god left us - byzantine empire and babylon. The religeon still works the same tooday as it did back then. Proclaim that there is only one god - one son of god, Jesus. The best way to congeal any loosely constructed group of religeous people (the jews) is to pick a messiah.
The god we worship can be any of them, Jesus, allah, buddha...the list goes on, so long as the ideals of good religeon are preserved. All you bible thumping christians should pick up a copy of the Pali canon, it will guide you straight as an arrow using metaphor AND examples (as the bible does.) It gives you a sharper idea of the way.

I don't know that these are neccessarily the guidlines of the bible, but misinterpretations of many of the followers and just sinful human nature in general. Religion or no religion, there are dumb, violent, close-minded, self-centered people out there.
But I do understand where you are coming from!

Why? Because they want to be ruled by God, not some idiot king who thinks he's better than you but he's not. Because Christians want the right to worship thier own God in thier own religion, not some religion that was forced upon the people by the King.

Was all this by God or by man using Gods name? You cannot use the two interchangeably. God do not endorse those particular behaviors those were mans doing.
