I refer to my deities as "he" or "she" depending on which deity I am talking about. My car and machinery I refer to as "she" because....well....it can be a little "temperamental" at times.

well back in the day (1950 and back) men seemed to insist on having control over everything. sort of this cave men mentality. you can see it on Jenny Jones or Maury with the men who treat their wives like crap.

obviously since men were in charge back then they made god a man. yes god is manmade. i dont care how much you WANT him to be real or how warm and fuzzy that feeling gets when you think about him....hes not real...hes manmade.

obvioisly the creatores of god made him a man, they refused to beleivethat god, the smartest person in the universe (and their creator) could be a lowly woman!

im sure they gave the usual excuses why god couldnt be a woman, women are weak, theyre uneducated, theyre crap...etc etc...we know thats bullsh*t today but come on...were dealing with cave man mentalities...or slightly above at least.

god was (and is) a man because men were in charge back then. simple as that. if women were in charge (which would be HOT!) god would be a woman.

if anything the ida of god being a woman would make the religion far more credible than if god remained a man. i reccomend to the christians (because im an atheist) that they change gods gender...perhaps then theyll get more money...i mean followers.

God should be refered to by "God."
My Caddy is a she.
My pink ankle leg cast is neon pink...I refer to that as
A Night reflector.
My computer is a She. Named Leigh
It's just the American way...we do simple silly things for fun.

We refer to God as "He", "Him", "His" because the Bible does. For example: John 3:16... For God so loved the world that "HE" gave "HIS" only begotten Son....

According to the Bible God is a spirit. Spirits have no gender. But God's characteristics are masculine in His nature.

Some people do and some Christian denominations allow God to be seen/refered to as She/Her, Mother God, etc.

It's called "inclusiveness."

Becasue symbols for god depend on the culture -- jewish culture back then was male-dominated and the theistic symbol was made human-like and male. Other cultures don't use any theistic symbols at all. I think the reason why 'she' is used for things like cars, etc, is BECAUSE what's said about them by males -- males wouldn't feel comfortable saying, 'he's a beauty'...

Well, people can assume the womens rights issue all they want. If you read the bible, it refers God as being a He.

God got no gender. I don't know if I should call Him or Her because God got no gender. God is above genders. God is a powerful Spirit. We should call GOD, just GOD.
