Some people claim once someone is hooked on drugs, it's an everyday fight for life to stay off them. But I have friends and other other people I've met who have miraculous stories concerning stopping drug use.
1- Dale used it all. He did drugs of evey kid imaginable. One day he suddenly stopped. He became a devout Christian and is n0w a preacher. He stopped drugs in 1982 and hasn't touched any sense.
2- Carl was a heavy pot smoker. He too quit and has not touched marijuana in over 5 years.
3-Twitty was an alcoholic in the military, but when he came out in 1945, he stopped drinking heavily (he drank one beer a year to clean out his kidneys)
These are a few examples. Does anyone else know they can quit and never use drugs or alcohol again?

If you have a strong enough desire to quit, you can. Faith can be an important tool, but it is not a requirement for sobriety.

I believe that AA & NA can make it HARDER to quit using, being around a group that sits around talking about how hard it is, and how it is a miracle for a person to be able to stop. Nonsense! If a person wants it, they will do it; 12step groups confuse the issue. Alcohol and barbiturates may require a medical detox because withdrawal may be life threatening, but no one needs a group to stop.

Cravings diminish the longer one has been clean; those who have been abstinent for years, but report a daily struggle are exaggerating for effect, or have never moved beyond the addiction. Their emotional growth stopped, and they are stuck in a place that requires constant sympathy.

The idea that we are all powerless, have a disease, and/or must wait for God to cure us can be powerful excuses to remain mired in addiction. God helps those who help themselves.

My sister died in 2002 from the effects of long term Heroin addiction. My stepmothers sisters son Heroin addict had a hard time getting off. That was 4 yrs ago hes in jail for something , but I don't know what. I'M GLAD I DON'T DO DRUGS. You might as well put a loaded revolver to your head with several bullets in the cylinder, cause its going to happen. Nobody can predict what
people will do when on drugs or how it will affect there lives.

a) Marijuana is not a physically addicting drug
b) You can stop drinking or doing drugs that ARE addictive if there is a reason

c) Most people who don't quit simply don't have the reason. And if they do have the reason and still don't quit, there is not enough will.

And that's a tough battle.

sure, you just have to put your mind to it and stop the addiction. it is your braid that is addicted, and the human has a lot of control over its brain, and the human has a lot of control over what choices and decissions it makes. some people need help from others to overcome their addiction, and some dont. but what matters is if they do over come it, to make sure they dont start up again, tahts where family and friends would come in the picture.

Everyone's experience with addiction is different. You cite a few stories here, but they are a very small percentage people in recovery. I do believe that a strong and abiding faith in God can work miracles, God bless these guys and you for sharing these stories.
