The first thing that someone should be considering is whether the idea of sin is actually real.
If God is supposed to be perfect how could She have made anything or anyone that wasn't.
Think about it. The idea of sin assumes certain things about God that seem highly unlikely.
All this talk about sin sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me.
First it assumes a God who is too incompetent to organize a simple educational field excursion and figure out a way to get all of the students home safely.
How likely is this that God would not be smart enough to come up with a plan for our salvation that is going to work?
It also assumes that God must have created us imperfect if we are sinners.
One might assume that God would be able to create someone perfect each and every time if he chose to. Assuming God is capable of this, then it follows logically that we must be perfect creations if we are actually creations of this perfect God.
Unless of course you are saying that God chose to create us imperfect.
If God created us imperfect then anything that may go wrong is Gods fault, not ours. This seems a bit illogical at best so I think that we need to assume that What God creates would have to be perfect.
If this is the case and Gods creations are perfect, then nothing that we can do could change what God created perfect and make it imperfect unless we think that we are more powerful than God is.
How likely is it that we the creation could be more powerful than the creator. I personally find this idea somewhat amusing, and a bit absurd.
Religion tells us that God is perfect. If this is true then it could hardly be logically for Gods creations to be considered to be anything less than perfect.
If this is the case then Nothing that we can ever do could possibly change this perfection that God willed, unless we were so powerful that our choices could override and change the will of God.
How likely is that????
Think about it.
The idea of sin is simple nonsense; a lie made up about God by religion.

There have been a lot of studies in the past few years, about how violent content affects people. The consensus is that it does affect us. Our brains have a hard time telling virtual reality from real reality. Pilots-to-be use flight simulators in training.
Each time we 'experience' something a neurological pathway is formed in the brain. synapses . The first time we 'do' something it takes thought and mental effort. The second time it seems a bit 'familiar' , the third time we might go thru it smoothly . Then, later, it becomes a habit that we build on. At that point it begins to feel strange if we are not doing it. That is the basis of addictions,, and why some of these 'games' can be addictive also.
The same pathways are made whether a person is using a flight simulator or a real plane.
It's the same principle in cyber sex. When we fantasize a sex scene, our brains still behave the same as it the scene were real. *kisses your lips firmly, darting my tongue between your lips* Your body can respond to that virtual reality the same as real reality,, your pulse quickening, and feeling some arousal.
So it is with violence,, the adrenalin rush, the response that gets to be almost reflex action.
That is why Jesus said that if you think it it is the same for you as if you did it.
My own views on stuff like that are,,, there are only 24 hours in a day, and I can't do but only so many things in one day,, why would I want to spend time on that rather than something else? There are other things you could be spending time at practicing that would be a real benefit to you life.

No -there is no sin. Forget about thoughts of sin or a judgemental god; instead, play the games and don't get so hung up on what you're doing. Instead of sin, there's loving or non-loving attitudes towards others which affects YOUR piece of mind and relationship with the world. When you play video games and someone else wants to join in, see if you feel better if you give someone a chance to play. When you're out dealing with friends and others, see if you treat them the way you want to be treated - accepted and not judged. That's it - forget about the weird sin stuff (I suffered for YEARS with wondering whether things were sins or not and I only developed real 'spirituality' when I finally let all that go). A judgmental god is NOT reality; those who have had a glimpse of god (a REAL glimpse) have an experience where they're literally with something that is literally part of them and has absolutely NO judgement -- completely loving.

Definitely a no. That's the reason we have these games, so we don't end up killing someone in real life. In fact, I play these games all the time! It's a very good way to let out stress and anger, and have fun at the same time. I would keep playing them if I were you, but you can make the decision.
I hope that helped, and have fun playing those games like I know you will!

many Christians (and others) would say that the mere thought of killing someone is just as bad as doing it. The truth is, anything that is negative that can produce negative results or consequences is a sin. If playing those games makes you forget that we are supposed to LOVE each other, its a sin- if something causes you negative thoughts or energy, eventually that negativity will come back to haunt you.
I may sound like I talk in circles, but I do not think playing any video game is a sin in itself, but the energy it can emit can easily make it sinful, because mankind is a product of what they expose themselves to.

No, it's not a sin. What i would think is a sin is if the parents don't give their kids a reality check and explain to them that the games are not real and that it's wrong to go around killing people.

What it is , is that you need to guard your spirit against certain things that promote un-Christian behavior, not just games, but music, movies, tv, language ect...I won't say it is a sin though, but check out how you view things after say playing these games for a fews hours...p.s. a few of my all time favorites are metal gear and extermination and i have also played hitman 1&2 and max payne 1&2. I am Not as inclined to play them anymore though.

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, then this is an issue that you take up with Him. The Bible promises that the Holy Spirit will lead you in all truth and will convict of sin, so you can talk to God about it, and it will become clear to you whether or not this is a good thing for you. Jesus is always with us. Does it bother you to have Him sit with you as you play these games?

If feeling lust towards a woman is a sin, which all men do, then video games where you feel violence, is an even bigger sin. Of course, sin is a human invention invented by early man.

Only if your a member of a freak cult religion, like some Christian offshoot.
Games, and real life don't mix, and it's important to remember that. Killing in games and killing in life are so different that only @$$ backwards adults get it twisted.
Hey I'm am KILLER at burnout, man drive the h-e double hockey stix outta that car... yesterday, I bumped my truck in a parking spot... world of difference.
