I wondered the other day why we get so involved with Yahoo Answers. I think its because when we answer the questions and get rated and then maybe get the "best answer" we are getting a form of validation. Connection with other people. A form of co dependancy if you REALLY want to stretch it. We get the feeling we have accomplished things when we get points for answering but we are running into walls because People, we're not WINNING anything!! Have you guys ever thought of this that way? Let me hear ya holla

It feels good to help someone and if you hear that your advice helped them what's wrong with that? It's no different then talking to your friends or family about a problem. You might get bad advice you might get good and if it's good you probably praise that person?
Besides if that's your way of thinking then anything nice people do where they might get praise would mean they need validation? Like helping at a homeless shelter, helping someone find something at the store, or picking up something someone dropped and giving it back. How about jobs? doctors, therpist, dentist, teacher, etc etc you get the point.

I know personally, it feels good to help somebody out if they're going through a problem I've had to go through. It feels nice to get more out of a frustrating experience with a computer or something if that knowledge can help somebody else. Plus I get frustrated when I can't find an answer to something, so if I can help another person's frustration it's worth the time. And points are a nice special bonus.

I just started answering questions. Honestly, I just really hope to be helping someone. I've had many different great and horrible experiences and if I can help someone out I'd love to. To me, all i need to win is knowing that I've helped someone feel better or helped someone to make the right decision

I DON'T DO THIS FOR VALIDATION BUT I DO IT TO HELP SOMEONE ASKING FOR HELP WITH SOMETHING. MAYBE I KNOW A WAY TO HELP THEM AND HOPEFULLY I WILL GET HELP WHEN I NEED IT.I DON'T CHASE THE POINTS ALTHOUGH I DO GET EXCITED WHEN I GET BEST ANSWER BECAUSE IT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE SOMEONE I DON'T KNOW TOOK THE TIME TO READ MY ANSWER AND IT MUST HAVE BEEN A GOOD ANSWER IF IT WAS VOTED BEST.

I think its fun answering and asking questions, some people take it to the next level by being all psycho about it tho. Its not life or death people its for fun!
