I have pretty long hair and it's wavy...I hardly ever use styling products on it. I just use Garnier Fructis shampoo and conditioner and in the winter I also use John Frieda Frizz-Ease. My problem is now that my hair is getting so long, for some reason it is shedding more and I'm finding my long strands of hair everywhere! I have to wear it in a ponytail practically all the time, except when I'm sleeping, because it gets into everything. I know this sounds like a weird problem, but is there anything I can do to curb the shedding, and having my hair going everywhere?? I do get tired of wearing it back all the time but if I wear it any other way it just gets IN the way. I'd cut it but 1) it took me a long time to grow it this long, and 2) my husband likes it long. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I had the same problem when my hair was longer... after having it pulled up for a while, it would shed like crazy. Especially in the shower when I would wash it. If it's bugging you that much you really need to have it cut at least a little. There's no point in having it long if you pull it back all the time, and pulling it back that much can cause breakage and more shedding. I know it's hard to let go of long hair, but once you cut it (get a cut with cute layers to style) you will feel 10x better, have less shedding, and healthier hair. Keep it at a medium length and it will still look feminine and pretty, and your husband might love it even more. Good luck!

I have the same problem, I usually only pull the front and sides back either in a clip or in barrets. It helps some. I also do a french braid and a twist in addition to a ponytail to keep it all the way back but with a different look and different pull points on the hair. I used to have extremely long, thick hair which I wore in a ponytail everyday and the weight of my hair was causing it to break making it look like I had a receeding hair line at age 12. That taught me to change it up so the hair isn't being stressed the same way everyday which cuts down on the apparent hair loss. But I still lose lots of hair, I joke that I could never commit a serious crime because I would leave behind too much DNA evidence. hehe

Good luck!

actually all people lose there hair at intervals. it could be your ponytail is causig this problem if you pull it to tight. sometimes it just seems more apparent to you when your hair comes out because it can sometimes rest and slow down. your age can affect the growth as can pregnacy. brush it often and see if it is really shedding or just seems to be.

Might the time of the year, mine is shedding too and it is not nearly as long as yours. Try getting a little trim, it might help. if not check with your doc to rule out anything else serious.

you could possibly have a thyroid disorder which causes your hair to become dry and brittle and where it breaks off easy and you begin to find your hair everywhere.

I agree about the Thyroid...you need to have it checked. Other signs are cold, tired, weight gain...
