I own an iPod, and I tried to connect my friend's iPod without running the software for it. I got an error the last time I tried to connect mine, and I have not been able to connect it again since then. What can I do to fix this problem?

Try to uninstall the itunes program and start all over again, like you did when you first brought your ipod home. (uninstall all ipod programs and itunes updates).
When you install the ipod again make sure you go through the steps on the order is told (in my case I got that error because I installed one program before the one it should go first)
This usually resolves the problem.

In last resort, if after the brand new installation it still gets an error go to the site of ipod. in the downloads they have some updates for the ipod itself that also can resolve the problem.
