If a parent beats thier child, and doesnt care what happens that child but still insists to be called a good parent though the other parent is the one who feeds and clothes. How old does a minor have to be to choose which parent for full custody ?

Sigh! Here we go again, with lots of people who know nothing guessing away. I have answered this question before several times.
THERE IS NO AGE AT WHICH KIDS GET TO DECIDE WHICH PARENT THEY WISH TO LIVE WITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some states have some reference as to the right of a judge to CONSIDER a kid's opinion which parent to live with, which is virtually never before age 12 or so, but no state that I know of which forces a judge to blindly accept the kids preference.
This is because there are complex issues that occur. Parents offer all sorts of things to a kid to get out of child support, or to get revenge on the other parent, or whatever. We call it, "I'll - buy - you - a - pony - if - you - live - with - me" and that sort of thing is not good for a custody decision.
So, in almost all states, a judge, at any age up to adulthood, is required to evaluate all factors to determine which parent is the best for the kid. The kid's opinion is only one factor of many. It is to be considered, but it has to be examined carefully and other factors must also be considered.
So, please stop saying there is an age when the kid gets to decide. It is not true.
See an attorney, even if you are the kid. Seriously. The parents will probably be forced to pay the attorney. Ask for an 'ad litem' guardian, which is often a professional social worker or attorney who investigates and gives a report and recommendation to the judge.
If this is the kid, and you can articulate well your reasons, you might win. Seriously, it's been done.
If you are the non-custodial parent, you start the battle with a bias against you, but especially if you are male; we are a very sexist society.

It is different in many States but the (normal) whatever that is) is 12 in most states. BUT if there is abuse in the household REPORT IT. It does'nt matter if the child does'nt want to (hurt the feelings) of the parent or not. ABUSE IS WRONG. You need to go in front of the Judge and EXPLAIN WHY you would like to live with the other Parent. The Judge will take your words into CONSIDERATION and decide what HE/SHE thinks is BEST for the child at that point and make a ruling on it. The child might get what He/She wants and maybe not but UNLESS BOTH parents can GET ALONG and come to an agreement then the Judges ruling is FINAL.

Depends on the state. Here in Va., you don't get to choose, but after about 12, the judges will give a good deal of consideration to the minor's wishes.
As far as what I assume is your situation--was custody ever litigated. If so, a lawyer was probably appointed to look after your interests. If so, you need to see that person. If not, silly as this sounds, talk to your school nurse.

I am assuming you are the minor child. If you are being abused, tell someone. But if you are just mad at the parent you are living with, deal with it. I will tell you it is not right to beat a child or not take proper care of a child that is under your care.
Go to your teacher, your school nurse, your guidance counselor or anyone at school. If you tell them you are being abused, they have a legal obligation to alert the proper authorities and an investigation will start.

Have your other Parent check it out with a Lawyer, make sure you tell the Parent what is going on---Abuse is not a way to live. Good Luck.

13 or 14. If that is happening you need to get out of the situation! If you are a teen you are too old to be beaten! Mom or Dad need to find another form of discipline.

I think it is 13. When they become in thier teens. It is different in some states though. So I do not know where you are. But in most I think it is 13.

I thought that someone once told me that it's like 12. You would have to check with a lawyer to be sure. If there is abuse going on in the home and you know about it, you need to report it.
