I've read about this diet... the one by Dr Gott in the newspaper?

He answered this question by stating that you cannot even eat whole-grain flour products. I believe he also restricted fruit since fruit contains fructose, which is a sugar.

His diet is sort of like a mini-South beath diet and it does work. I am not sure how applicable it is for a lifetime of use (or even those who are extremely active, since they need carbohydrates), but like the low-carb diets, they do tend to work in the short run.
