Think about it this way

There has been only one commercial aircraft accident since Nov 2001 and that was at the weekend, the record for safety is amazing, so do not be scared about the plane crashing, you are more likely to be killed on the way to the airport than on the plane

Security is as good as it gets, be it a bit of a hassle

Airplanes are really safe, I know because I am in the aircraft safety buisness, I am one of those people who test the planes before the passengers get even close to them

Think of the view you get looking out the window, think how fast you are going to get to the wedding and how much fun it will be.

You will be fine, once you get the first flight over the rest will be a breeze

Brodie - One of my three daughters has the same problem, and I'm a pilot! You can't eliminate the fear in 12 hours or less, however, you can control it.

Just think - the pilot and crew of the aircraft you board do this for a living almost every day. Do you think they are going to get on an airplane that is unsafe? After all, the pilots are the first to arrive at the the accident scene!

So bring an interesting book, get on the plane and lose yourself in reading. Let the professionals handle the flying - and don't you even think about it!

It'll all be fine!

What is your fear? Not being in control of the situation?
That is mine.

Once on a flight to Europe hit one of those air pockets where the plane drops 1000 feet. I stood up with the following PSA "Holy S*** we are going down!"

Ya well it was not until customs in Frankfurt that my daughter and friends claimed me. I blame it on the drugs the doctor gave me so I wouldn't panic in fight. Ya, that worked Doctor Feelgood.

If I can get on a plane and go to Europe several times you can handle a 2 hour flight it is a walk in the park. Talk to the person siting with you, also tell the flight attendant that you are very apprehensive about the flight.

Take along a MP3 or portable CD player and listen to your favorite music. Take along a book and read it, they will also have some magazines on the flight. It is to short for a movie, but depending on the airline they may have Direct TV.

You will be fine and do fine. It will take you longer to get to the Airport and get checked in tat it will take you to get to your final detestation, and the flight home will go REAL fast, it always does.

When you get back home you will start thinking about how fun the flight actually was, and you will realize all of the fear was for nothing!

A word to the wise, if they have the in-flight meal service, go for the chicken, the fish..ewwww.

ust dont be scared theres nothing scary about it. its a proven fact that your thousands of times more likely to die in a car accident on your way to the airport than i a plane crash. just think of it as your docters these people are highly educated professional that are someone you can trust you life with they know what there are doing. just get on the plane and then you cant back out or go to sleep before you take off.

Keep yourself really occupied during the flight (reading, in-flight entertainment, music etc) and take a seat away from the windows.

Have you ever been on a plane before? It's pretty safe. You're lucky it's only two hours. The best way to overcome fear is to confront it.

You'll be in more danger driving to the airport than you will be in on the plane. RELAX, the chance of something happening on the plane trip is VERY remote. You probably take more risk every day!

In order for you to be invloved in an aircraft accident, statistically, you would have to fly everyday for the next 650 years and then you would probably still survive the accident.

Just remember, you're in greater danger of injury or death when taking a shower in your home prior to leaving for the airport than you ever are while in the aircraft.
