A 400cc driver could help you drive it farther, but I think a 300cc driver is easier to hit straight you don't lose alot of distance. I have a 320cc driver and its lowered my handicap by at least 7 strokes.

In a real life situation, yes it does. The reason being that the technology in the old 300cc drivers is obsolete. Actually, the technology in the 400cc drivers is also obsolete. The new 460cc drivers along with Taylormade's 425cc and a few others are the new breed of drivers, thin walls, redistributed weight, and better shaft flex and design.

If the technology of the head, shaft, and swing are equal in the two compared drivers, then as long as the ball was hit on the hot spot, the distance should be the same. The only thing that matters in how far your drive gets off the tee is the COR (the spring effect of your driver head), the clubhead speed, the spinrate of the ball, hitting the ball in the center of the clubhead (on the hotspot), and getting the clubhead square at impact. For you, this means only choosing the right driver, ball, and getting a technically sound swing. After that, you just have to work on clubhead speed. Hope this helped.

well, let's put it this way:

no one makes 300cc drivers anymore, so any that are around are probably not made out of titanium like the newer 400cc heads.

the "sweetspot" on a 300cc head is also much smaller than that of a 400cc head. that means that it's much more difficult to hit the ball with the prime spot of the clubhead to get the maximum effect.

overall, given the same person hitting a 300cc and 400cc club, i would say that the 400cc club would get him at least 25%-35% more yardage than the 300cc club.

The 400cc driver has a larger head and a larger sweet spot.
You should really hit both and make your own decision.
300cc drivers are older but it doesn't mean that's not the club for you.

the bigger driver is much more forgiving because of the enlarged hitting area and the bigger sweet spot - some advanced golfers use the smaller drivers to be able to work the ball off the tee but the majority of golfers are going to take advantage of today's advanced technology and go with the big dog
