I have a 12 week old pomeranian... and on walks, she's been mistaken for a cat, a guinea pig, and a large hampster (if a 5 year old's opinion counts)!
lol - it cracks me up (especially when the 5 year old said "Look, Mommy, it's a girl walking a GIANT HAMPSTER!!).

Anyone else?

My first German shepherd was a very large gray sable search dog, and I was doing agility work with him one afternoon at the local school playground. The afterschool group came out to play, and one little boy shouted, "Teacher, teacher, it's a WOLF!"

But the funniest story was when my husband was walking Cody in the park, and a little girl (four or five years old, tops) looked up and said, "Look, Mommy, it's a deer!" Her mother told her that it was a dog, but she insisted, "No, mommy, it's a DEER!" No amount of explanation would sway her, either.

Poor dog -- from one end of the food chain to the other!

Lol I have greyhounds and one of the volunteer activities for our adoption group is to do meet and greets at local stores. At our last m&g someone walked up and started hugging the dogs saying "ooooh what beautiful pomeranians"!

I have a 15" pomeranian mixed with, who knows what! The first time my niece saw him, she jumped back in fright. She thought he was a fox. I'd forgotten about that, until this weekend's dog trial, a little girl the age she was then, jumped back into her mom's arms, which surprised her mom. I said, "Did you think he was a fox?" She nodded.

Well, when I was a puppy people used to think I was a mop. How insulting!! And one day a friend of my master thought I was a cushion and sat on me. PS: I bit her. Tee hee

My Lhasa Apso looks like a teddy bear if his fur is cut right. No one actually mistook him for one though.

Not my dog, but my cat used to resemble a small cow (he has been put on a diet since then).
