I think you may misunderstand. I know many non-Christians who are very moral. That's not the issue.
Who gets to define "moral? Whose morality is acceptable? Yours? Mine? Mother Teresa's? Hitlers?
See the problem? What one person calls moral, another may call immoral. So then as a Christian we say it doesn't matter what any person thinks is moral, we will base morality on God's standard of right and wrong.

I don't know. I do know that it is possible to be moral without being religious, but you have to base that morality on something. For example, some people's morality is based on whatever brings pleasure and doesn't cause any harm. That is a type of morality and yet it is contrary to Biblical morality in that the Bible teaches that some things can seem right in our own eyes and still be wrong before God, so perhaps "hardcore Christians" really think that no one who isn't "religious" is able to live a Biblically moral life.

Because humans don't have enough common sense or intelligence to know right from wrong. Therefore, we must rely on a dusty old book to tell us what to do. I mean, everyday when I'm sacrificing a lamb to my Lord or trying to turn my fellow humans into pillars of salt like my humble and compassionate God I wonder how non-believers function without the glorious words of the Bible. Even though Ghandi had well intentions we all know he's burning in hell because you simply cannot possibly be moral without being religious.

Because they think that morality stems from God. Most of us are just misguided by principles that are crammed down our throats from Fundies but the basic belief is that all morality came from God. I believe this but that was, if we believe a literal translation of the bible 8000 years ago. So in a modern world you dont have to be religious to be a moral person. I know non religious people who have higher standards in thier morals than some of the religious people I know.

I am a christian and I know some very decent people who are kind, very charitable, honest and have very high morals that are either atheist or from another religion. I also know some people who are dishonest, mean, cruel and also arent christians. I know all kind of people who claim they are christians but have no love, no kindness and, sad but true some are dishonest.
Real christians are kind, charitable, honest and moral.

Religion and Morals are not the same thing at all.
Thank goodness, there are many people who have high morals, even though they are not religious.
Religious people are supposed to have high moral standards, but they don't always live up to that.
Two different things entirely.

the best morals in the world isn't enough to make you a Christian, and will never be enough for you to see heaven, the Bible says that our righteousness is but filthy rags. God requires more than morals. I know many people who are good moral people and have no clue that they need God in their lives. only by HIS grace are we ever good enough to see heaven.

Oh , you can be very moralistic ,nicew to everyone and doing good deeds for everyone but as Jesus said "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. What this means is even though the rich man did many good deeds he never accepted Christ as THE SON OF GOD SO his soul was lost

Because, like the 'good' son in the prodigal son parable, they conceive of religion and morality with a spiritually immature 'whats in it for me' mindset where it only makes sense that one does good to get a special reward (or avoid punishment) and that others who don't do good MUST be punished by the deity. The concept of god is so interwoven with this that one can't imagine doing good without this stern father figure. Therefore, because they can't conceive of a morality where there's no reward for their self at the end, the idea of one doing good out of a developed sense of compassion (based on one's own realization of suffering) isn't there.
