Yes they do. My Boxer Shadow got bit by one last year and we were really worried. Her face was very swollen. We took her to the Vet and thankfully it was not a dangerous spider. Brown Recluse spiders can make a lot of tissue damages and necrosis, which can lead to amputation. Be safe, they can get you too. We just got a memo from our Vet to fumigate and check our dog's bedding and living areas. Especially in the summer months.

Yes, I researched this recently when my dog was ill. The web information said that it is very possible, and that generally the bites are on the belly or similar areas where there is no hair or it is thin. They suggested you do a thorough check of the animal. The spiders of concern are the Black Widow and the Brown Recluse spider in the United States.

If you believe your dog may have been bitten, you should contact your vet.

Anything can get bitten by a spider. For example I'm allergic to all bug bites. My dog was stung by a bee once on his lip and we had to take him to the vet. A couple of hundred dollars later all the vet did was have us hold an ice pac on his lip to put the swelling down.
