We have yogurt, milk, chesse, sliced meats that all have best before dates. But if it's not consumed before the *best before* dates. What's an average time in days it may last after that date.
Just dairy products like milk, cheese, yogurt etc.

I wouldn't take a chance with the meat because you won't know by taste if it's bad.

With the dairy products, you can smell them. If they smell sour, then they are probably sour. If you are still unsure and are feeling adventurous, taste a small amount of it.

Milk, if it has been stored properly, can be held for about 7 days past the date on the carton.

Cheese can be stored until it is moldy beyond recognition. If there is mold on it then cut it off and eat the good part of the cheese. ( unless it is the shredded kind in the bags, then toss the whole bag)

Yogurt will smell and taste bad if it as turned.

Cheese, a couple of weeks to months (is it hard cheese like parmesan or soft like brie). Your normal cheddar, look at the label, has been aged. It's not going to all of a sudden turn bad. Yogurt, probably a couple of weeks. Milk, the dairies tell you five days, mine usually smells off on the "best before date". There are so many factors: how cold is your fridge, is the package opened or not, besides those already mentioned. Best to let your nose and eyes guide you.

if the cheese isn't' moldy...by all means, have some....but milk and yogurt usually go bad sometime close to the expiration date. You can tell if milk is bad if it smells terrible, and you can tell if yogurt is bad if it looks watery when you open it.

If stored correctly, most dairy products are good for one week after the expiration date.

you cant always go by the date because sometimes it spoils before the date and sometimes it spoils after the date, my best advice is to either smell it or take a small sample
