Anyone who says they're bring back the draft is eating right out of the biased media's hand. This is the same garbage Kerry tried to scare the kids with in 2004. The draft went away 30 years ago. Research the DOD press releases, the military is exceeding retention and recruitment goals every month. Also, being retired Army I can say that the last thing a professional Army wants is a bunch of turd draftee's like the dolts who posted above...

Well, it is hard to say. Way back when the government promised that there would never be another draft. But lets face the facts. Politicians are infamous for promising something and then going back on their word. I honestly believe that if some war got bad enough and they needed soldiers on the field bad enough, they would reinstate the draft. I personaly think with all the things going on in the Middle East, World War 3 is just around the corner. So don't be surprised if we see in within 10 years.

no the generals do not a civilian mind set out there because their option then become seriously reduced. Also imagen what the outcry against war (especially one like viet nam) would be greater if the soldiers were forced into service. If something unexpected happens then maybe a draft. Only if they have no other choice.

wouldn't be surprised, but alot of people willingly join the army anyways. I hope were talking about the same draft. However, If the war in Iraq continues, I'm 90% sure that a draft will hit.

Well, I've already heard some Democrats state that we
should. If you like that idea, vote Democratic. If not,
better stay with the Republicans. If you like English as
America's only language, vote Republican as I have a
list of Democrats that voted against it. If you like winning
wars, vote Republican. If you'd rather wave the white
flag in defeat, vote Democratic.

If this middle east conflict escalates into WW III, you are god damn right they will bring back the draft, for both men and women. That will be the price for entering an unnecessary war like Iraq and destabilizing a region.

Not as long as they can use education benefits etc. to get the poor and lower middle class to do the fighting. The draft can select people from the upper middle/upper class, so this is not very likely. The draft is truly the fairest way to fight wars.

While I'm really hoping that they don't bring back the draft, with each passing day, it seems more and more highly likely that this is going to happen, unfortunately.

The draft is political suicide. It won't be brought back.
