a lot of times when you buy grapefruit in the grocery it will have that white fuzz growing on the outside. If it isn't bad, you can wash it off and then peel it, but make sure you wash your hands and the inner fruit before you eat it. You'll be able to tell by the texture of the pulp inside whether or not the orange is unfit to eat.

Wimps! I have carefully peeled and eaten moldy oranges many times in my 64 years. Never got sick. It's not the same as moldy meat which could be really nasty. Also, moldy bread is good as long as you peel off the mold.

You guys are lucky to be so rich. When I was a kid, we were poor, my dad worked at a grocery warehouse and brought home moldy oranges for us to eat.

He also brought home bags of rotten potatoes, and we had to dig the good ones out of the bad and wash them for eating. Bad smelling but edible.

We in the US today are very lucky we can afford to throw away edible food because it looks bad.

That would be the rare and endangered polar orange. A fruit similar to the orange and favoured by the polar bear. The colder it is the longer the fur grows. I guess they feel the cold.......

Well, put it this way. If you eat them, you have already ingested penicillin. But. don't eat them. While you're at it clean out the refrigerator and use a bucket of water with a cup of bleach. That will kill anything growing on the walls & compartments in the ice box!
