You can't exterminate something that doesn't exist. All gods are imaginary, so the only way to exterminate them is through education. Teach people the difference between imagination and reality and you'll reduce the number of gods. You might never get rid of people believing in gods, but you can cut it back a lot by putting more focus on reason over faith.

And why do you care what someone else wants to worship? How does someone else worshiping their God or Goddess, and not bothering you, affect you in any way?
