YES! unless you plan on carrying it on in an overhead bin.

Most airlines will all you 2 bags checked-total and both bags are weight restricted. They will make you pay extra for anything typically over 50 lbs. higher limits for INTL travel.

I think most airlines allow 1 carry on and a personal item. Personal items are normall smaller, i.e. purse, laptop, etc.

airlines usually have an allowance when it comes to checked-in luggage and handcarried baggage. If you exceed that allowance, then you will be charged.

Usually the same price as a seat. They have you take it on board with you and if doesn't fit in the over head compartment or under the seat, they have you put it in a seat next to you then charge you the price of a seat.

for baggage if it above 50 pounds they will charge you. I fly a lot, I don;t know about mussical intruments.

If it is oversized, or you have more than the allowable number of pieces of checked luggage, probably.

Only if it puts your luggage above the weight limit. In other words, no, they care about weight, not bulk.
