If it is a non-vehicle pathway, walk on the right, with traffic. However, if you are on a road with cars, walk on the left facing traffic with a light colored piece of clothing on so the drivers can see you. Remember, just because you can see them, doesn't mean they saw you.

Facing traffic on the side of a roadway with out a sidewalk. Are you referring to the proper side to escort a lady on a sidewalk? Stemming from the 18th century a proper gentleman would walk on the inside in the event that a chamber pot would be emptied during a stroll. I don't think that its a real issue anymore. I tend to walk on the right side of the sidewalk unless I'm in a rush, I can't stand people who saunter along and don't give you an inch to move around them. Hope that helps

I can never understand this. We drive on the right side of the road in the US. Why can't people stay the phuck right at outside events like flea markets and street fairs ... It seems I'm always walking against people.

Always walk the same direction as traffic is driving. Never walk with cars driving towards you.

If your on a bike you ride with traffic if your walking you walk against it unless a sidewalk has been provided---otherwise you can't see the cars coming and have no vehicle (bike) to help get out of the way with.

to the right, otherwise, you'll get ran over...i tend to like and drag my right arm along the wall...spreading of germs, great fun eh?
though a friend and i suggested walking backwards down the left side of the hall...may be suicide, we have yet to try this.

depends on the country, walk the same way you drive in that country....its just common sense...and a major pain when people don't flow the same way on the side walk...
