I have just found out that I have a deadly TOMATO allergy. I will see an allergist soon. Just wondering if anyone else has the same issues? I am educating myself, this explains alot of health issues I have had in the past. Just need that moral support as I am reacting to different foods..(hives) and such. And wonder if anyone is dealing with this?

I have food allergies and one thing you need to keep track of is do you get any annoying but not life threatening problems from different foods. If you have an allergy to tomatoes you could have problems with potatoes, corn, eggplant or other foods. These problems may be as simple as a headache or sinus congestion. I am working with a naturopath to help reduce my problems and it has been more successful than my experience with the allergist. I now can tell with minutes if I shouldn't be eating something because my sinuses get congested. Keep a food diary once you get past this bad spell. I hope that you feel better soon. Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear that you are a food allergy sufferer, but there's help out there don't worry.
By going to an allergist, you may be prescribed epipen (epinephren) shots that you will have to carry with you, if ever you (by mistake) come into contact with an unwanted tomato product. These shots are life savers!!!
I'm allergic to shrimps, but I'm lucky enough to not need to carry those shots around, all I need is some emergency benadryl. I break into hives and become very faint. Actually, I once got some vegetable spring rolls from a Chinese restaurants and they had shrimps in them, and by the time i realized it I had already broken into hives!
So here's a tip, when eating out, always ask what is in the food and what CAME IN CONTACT with the food. For example, when ordering a hambuger, you can obviously say "no tomato" but many restaurants pre cook the stuff, and they will just take the tomato off the bun or something, but that bun will end up in your mouth. So beware for stuff like that and you'll be fine.
Also, it becomes second nature to read all food labels and to pay attention to the "may have come in contact with...". Thing is, it won't list "tomato" at the end of that sentence, so I would suggest calling the number in the back of some products. For example, if you like potato chips, call up the companies you mostly consumme and ask them if they make the ketcup potato chips with the same machines as the other chips. Simple questions like this could help you avoid that allergic discomfort!
Good Luck!

Yes, i do have many food allergies, but the worse allergy is that I can´t eat anything that comes from the sea, seafood, any kind of fish! When I was little I coulnt eat eggs either. Today I am allergic to all sorts of nuts, strawberrys, chocolates, oh I could go on. I guess you get used to it. The worst part for me is when my eczema breaks out...

I have many allergies also... Fruit (all fruits), grass, weeds, mold, pollen, trees, the adhesive on band-aids, bug bites and stings (deathly allergic to bees and wasps). My allergist has me on 3 different antihistamines along with 4 other medications and I am also working on the allergy shots... in this day and age trust me you are not alone. :)

My son does. Now that you know about it you should be better able to avoid tomatoes. My son's allergy it to soy, which is hidden in many products, and he does fine. Don't worry it's really common. Keeping some antihistamine with you would be a good idea too.
P.S. nice 360

I am allergic to chicken, turkey, eggs, beets, cherries, honey and coffee. I suppose you will have to make your pizza without sauce. I have to read labels on lunch meats, hot dogs, breads and cereals. I have a daughter that is allergic to yellow #5. I have to watch out for that. I also have a son that is lactose intolerant.

I am alergic to cillantro and then seem to put it in almost all Mexican food now. It makes me throw up even if I have just a little bit.
I am also slightly alergic to walnuts. They make my mouth tingle if I eat them in a brownie or something.
