You should never have a friend do it for you. Go up to her when she is alone because it makes it harder when her friends are around. You can say; (her name) I was thinking about seeing a movie this weekend would you like to see it with me. It may seem old fashion but it is simple. If she should say no or that there is nothing playing that she wants to see, then try going to a new restaurant or something like miniature golfing. Take it from a women's point of view, if I was still a teenager that's what I would do.

Do it face to face. Having another friend ask her out for you is lame.
