I was planning to sell the place, but we are going to stay now, because we LOVE the neighborhood. My problem is I'm sensitve to loud noise especially above me. How can I reduce my sensitivity? I have tried ear plugs, Sleep medications, running fans, etc..Even considered Soundproofing, which is really expensive!!!is there any type of therapy that some one can do to reduce sensitvity to sound? PLEASE HELP!!!
Not knowing what to do, but willing to try...

Oh boy...that sounds like a really rough situation. There's not much you can do to reduce your sensitivity. Have you spoken with your neighbor? If he/she doesn't have area rugs, can you ask them to invest in some? Having rugs when you live in an apt/condo is helpful in absorbing the sound, and is even required in some buildings.

Also, a white noise machine (available at amazon.com---see link below) can be useful to drown out a bit of the sound (and to help you sleep!).

Good luck!

White noise machine

Ocean sounds

Ear plugs (oh you've already tried them)

Go to lots of loud rock concerts and dance close to the speakers!

Write a letter or talk to the people above you and ask them not to make so much noise!
