The belief in a higher power than ourselves to explain the mysteries of space, how we came to be,who causes thunder and lightning and so has been with mankind since the early beginnings. We know this through Greek Mythology,Folk tales passed through generations, pictures and wriitings found in the pyramids of egypt, drawings by supposed primitive man on cave walls. The Belief of a higher power has been and is found in every race, culture and nation. Why-for if one gives just basic thought to our earth, the sun,moon-space, how rain happens and how things grow and even how intricate yet so functioning our own bodies are one has to conclude that none of these things just happened by chance-that great intelligence ompared to which we are primitive and puny must have put all this together. Nothing happens by chance and then just happens to fit. And where did LIFE come from-what was the very beginning of it for so far life is not created in a test tube but accomplished by fitting together already created/exisitng cells, DNA derived and so forth-no one has made a new species, taken a testube and create life from nothing-even the "primordial slime-our soppused beginning had to come from somewhere but so far no explanation for the very beginning. Who made the rainbow-not chance but a promise to never cause a flood to drown all creation. Religion may make no sense to you now but have a tragedy occur or some bummer and see if the among the first words spoken there is Oh God.

What is there not to make sense of religion? Religion is simply a guide to tell you that there is more to life here and now, that there is a after life as well. It tell you how to life a happy one here and how to reach the next better one. If this does not make sense to you, it is because you have just started register in the kindergarten level of spiritual understanding. No hurry, we all must start from the elementary.
Fo now just leave the supernatural out of your life.
Take care.

I guess its a question of faith, if your happy and comfortable in your beliefs, then you don't need the added security of religion to full-fill your life, but for some the knowledge that there might be nothing after life is simply unacceptable. Personally i believe in a higher power, but i choose not to give that power a name or a label, by doing that i give up the ideal that my higher power is a natural force that doesn't discriminate or demand blind obedience, but simply asks that i live a good life and do onto others as i would have them do onto me (pardon the plagiarism), without hate or malice regardless of their beliefs, sex, race or sexual orientation. The thing that seems to create most of the tension in the world today (and throughout history)is the constant competition between the religions as to whose is the true faith, no one knows for sure, so why can't they all be true, just accept that others have the right to believe what they want without consequence of retribution or disdain. If we can do that for each other then maybe we can live without the fear of bloodshed for our beliefs and replace it with peace!!!

The very definition of the word "supernatural" is "extending beyond what is natural." We see the "natural" world, of course, but our intellect (hopefully) apprehends that there is more. The intellect is magnificent (and real!). Ask yourself, as you're talking on your cellphone, with its signals moving invisibly, indiscernibly through the ether, whether there is more to reality than that which is revealed to you by the senses. Keep learning. Learning will not interfere with your self-respect, and your self-respect will not interfere with your desire to be happy.

The bible says that those who walk apart from God walk in darkness, your confused because the lights are out. Call on Jesus now and let the light shine, you will understand things. Before I was a Christian I read the bible but got absolutely nothing out of it, I couldn't even remember what I just read, but with Christ living in my heart, the Bible makes perfect sense and comes to life every time I read it.

Don't listen to anyone who says that you need to "be prayed for", or that you're going to hell. It's natural for everyone to feel that way, and I guaruntee that even some of the strongest, most hardcore religious folks have gone through it too, so they have no room to talk negatively.

The statistics of combining the right temperature, the right amount of this, and the right amount of that, and of course the ever popular "given enough time" to produce a simple life form, is absurd.
Sorry for the run-on sentence.

it's either hope or fear.
some people don't need a religion to overcome difficulties, some people do.
some think supernaturel things in the books are silly.some think they are just metaphors...while others might think they are facts.
Don't force yourself to anything.Just think for a while. If you are happy living without a religion then there's no problem.

Religion is tradition, rules, and an agenda created by man. Christianity is centered around Jesus Christ, religion makes no sense to me either!

Yep... absurd... that just about sums it up.
