So you get your muscles revved up, and you don't pull one.

It's like starting a car. In the winter you start your car 10-15 mins before you want to leave, cause it gives the car time to get up to proper working levels. Where as if you just started it and peeled out of the driveway, you could hurt the engine cause the oil isnt warmed up yet.

I hope that made sense

Thats still debatable, some studys have shown that if you don't stretch before working out you are more likely to damage your muscles, while some have shown that that's not true. As long as you go slow at first and stretch afterwards you should be fine. As for cramps, make sure you drink plenty of water, not soda or juices and you probably won't get cramps of any kind.

A good warmup slowly raises the heart rate, lubricates the joints, oxygenates the muscles, and gets the brain and body in sync with each other!

Because you don't want to pull a muscle playing kick ball or table tennis.

Plus you will want to be warmed up to kick all the stupid jocks' butts when they get violently mad if someone misses a catch in kick ball.

When you warm up with jumping jacks, stretching, etc you are less likely to injure yourself since you are loosening up all of your muscles and joints.

Because it prepares you for the activity, it´s like checking if everything is working fine. It also increases the oxygen in your blood, boosts adrenaline and reduces the friction in your joints.

Besides, it´s just plain cool.
