Actually, including future commitments already accrued (things like medical costs and retirement costs) it's more like 600 billion dollars already spent or committed. That's even if we pulled out today and didn't spent anouther dime, we'd still have paid out over 600 billion. Assuming we'll have to be there at least a few more years, and yeah, total costs will exceed a trillion dollars.

I don't have the figures but I know this: The war's single day tab would be enough to build the entire border fence with more than enough left over to take the entire population of Costa Mesa out to dinner in that city's snazziest restaurant, tip included.
