I try not to cut them as this will cause them to grow more rapidly. Instead I just pluck every hair that sticks out only; with tweezers.
It’s not as painful as you would think, and you only have to pluck one if it sticks out, remember you need nose hairs to filter dust.

You have (1) an undersized nose, or (2) roots from head hair have reacted to the lack of head moisture and have grown excessively deeper, reaching for your nasal moisture as an irrigating source. Once there, the dark, tropical environment of your inner nose passage has been a perfect 'green house' (so to speak) for the hair. They thrive and their excesses are reaching out of your nose and trying to get more sunlight.
Use Roundup once every 3 months.

What should you do - trim them. But you asked what CAN you do? Which allows you a far wider range of possibilities. You can superglue tiny little coloured beads to the end of them which rattle when you breathe like micro version of those beaded door rattly hangy screeny things I never understood because they whack you in the face whenever you try to get through the doorway. You can collect them to stuff a pillow for a baby mouse. You can become a forensic scientist really quickly and take them to The Lab and run all sorts of DNA and chemical analysis tests on them for a laugh. You can let them accumulate snot like little stalactites, and have a whale of a time peeling it off (or ripping if you're a masochist). I love this question.

Just braid them and blend them into your mustache. They're very useful for filtering dust, so you don't want to lose them.
Of course if you're a woman you might have a problem sporting a mustache composed entirely of nose hair.

Everyone gets long nose hairs. Pluck 'em. (I always thought that I was the only woman in the world with hair on her big toes. Wrong.)

Buy a nose trimmer, they work the same as electric shaver, and it willbe less painful the using scissors, as you can cut your nose doing it that way! Boots is the best place to buy one!
