I need a car for under $5,000?

i live in NC and my older brother needs a car for school. we would like to not spend more than $5,000. can any one give some advice?

honda civics you can ALWAYS find one under 5K with low mileage

or the acura integra 2d/4d...those can be found under 5K...

early 90s volkswagen jetta or golf TDI manual transmission.

Will run forever
Incredible fuel mileage.
Roomy
Peppy
Can be easily maintained
Can be converted to run on vegetable oil (so, if he gets a job at mcdonalds while in school, he can use fryer grease) .
