My poor baby kitten has an eye irritation. He went out to play for half and hour and came in with a puffy eye. He is constantly rubbing it with his paw. I looked at it, and there is like a blister on the inner top eyelid. Is there something I can put in it? Are human allergy eyedrops an option? It is really bothering the poor fella. Please help!!

Keep a close eye on him. Most likely he will need to go to the vet, they will also do a phisical exam on him and check for any internal paracites if you ask, up here the phisical exam's cost around fifteen dollars without being checked for worms. The vet may need to lance the blister but will probaly give you eyedrops for him with cortisone in it. Thats what my vet did when my hybrid cat was haveing very bad allergies. and if he got into poison ivy he may have gotten some in his eye, if you notice a white line at the inner bottom corners of his eyes that is the third eyelid and he will need to have eyedrops, try to get the drops and not paste, much easyer to apply in cats.Depending on your vet such trips are not usualy expencive, and in all truthfullness its best to get it fixed as soon as possible to keep more serious things from happening. it could be just a irritation, or something more serious like an infected cut. you never know so i reccoment close watch and withen a day or two take him to get a check up.

Anytime there is an eye problem, my policy is to check with a vet. The eyes of a kitten are extremely delicate, and a viral infection can lead to blindness. You say it has a blister. It could be a sting or an irritation caused by rubbing. You really need to go to the vet and get an antibiotic ointment and perhaps a collar to keep the Kitty from rubbing it. sometimes, a cat can make the problem worse by rubbing it.

I am always leary about human medications until I check with my Doc. I would try taking some cotton or even just toilet paper or something, and wetting it with warm water and squeezing it in the eye. Possibly mix a little Boric acid in the water. Nowadays they say Boric acid is not good for even humans. I always used it as a child and on my cats, I'm still alive and so are my cats. Other than that just keep your eye on the kittie, if it gets worse you can get some eye oinment from the vet, and or, antibiotics. Hope the baby gets better!!!!

I agree that he should go to the vet. Tomorrow is the last day of their business week (maybe Saturday morning). If you wait and he gets more distressed and the eye gets worse you will have no choice but to use an emergency vet Sunday and Monday (the holiday) and that will cost a lot more.

Letting a kitten out to "play" is the equivalent of dropping your 2 yr. old off at the mall.

There is absolutely no reason for a kitten to be outside. You are liable to lose him, have him end up at the top of a tall tree, get struck by a car, attacked by a dog. Need I go on?

I have a cat that has a chronic eye problem . I have taken her to a cat specialist. When they eye does not need a antibiotic ointment but appears irrated he told me to use any human eye drops as long as though they are not the kind that says gets the red out. So yes you can just be sure it does not state gets the red out as this type has a ingrediant in it not suitable for cats. But your cat really should be looked at by a vet.Possibly she scratched the eye outside or has something in it.

Human drops are not safe. My kitty was born with an eye infection and then developed two more eye infections after that.
A trip to the vet is required and the sooner the better. My vet told me that eye infections could be a sign of feline leukemia or
feline aids. Especially if there are repeated infections. Please get your cat to the vet right away. She may have even scratched
the cornea. Good luck.

DO NOT PUT ANYTHING IN THE EYE!!!!! If there is a foreign body, abcess, scratch on the cornea, etc that you likely won't see, you can make the cat go blind by putting anything in there! You need to call your vet and get the cat in today! Only the vet can determine what can safely be used on the eye (they need to look at it with special tools). Do not put allergy drops or any other human eye product in there!

Yeah, vet is the way to go. Probably got a scratch on the lid or cornea, but you will likely still need some antibiotic drops to prevent infection, which have to be prescribed. It can be expensive, especially after hours, to go to a vet, but you may be able to get a sample of the eye drops for free if you ask. It'll be a lot more expensive (not to mention possibly dangerous) if you don't go. . .

The kitty probably got stung or bit by something that is probably why there is a blister. Try taking warm water and swabbing the kitty's eye every hour and maybe try one or two visine drops. You don't want to hurt him. I hope that you are able to take him to the vet too and let the vet check it. Look for a stinger as well.

Hope the kitty gets well fast.

no. their eyes are different than ours. Don't put visines either that will make things worse. Take him to your vet to get some BNP. That is a eye ointment or drops that helps clean their eyes. If he has some irritation from that blister you might get something else to heal the eye. Don't experiment on him. You may do more damage than good.
