By chattering constantly so that you cant listen to the box. And you told them constantly to shut up, what can you do. Not enter the room where he is sat, and sitting in another room where his rival sister is sat. To make him get the point that you need peace and quite what do you suggest guys shall I play hard ball. Because this person is making my life hell.

If it is your son, then move the TV up to your room, and impound any other TVs in the house. Hard ball rules. However, I notice myself trying to get my daughter to shut up while I'm watching TV sometimes, and then I wonder - er..shouldn't I be talking to her rather than sitting in a trance in front of some stupid rubbish? Maybe he just wants you to talk to him? It depends on age - if teenaged, maybe he is just trying his luck. As for peace and quiet, bribes might work? Good luck.

Talk constantly when he is watching something but make sure you're just babbling make sure it's nothing really interesting then when he asks you to be quiet you can say that as he always talks when you are trying to watch something you thought that was how he wanted to watch tv

My dad always let us talk as much as we wanted during commercials and then when the show was on we had to be quiet. Maybe try that?
