Hi,

I am going to be staying at the hotel connected to this train station. Does anyone know if this is a safe train station to be in at night?

Thanks!
Kimberley

There are police patrols in Penn Station. However, as in most large cities, there is a risk of being out late at night alone. Stay alert and try to keep with a group of people.

There's a Penn Station in Newark, New Jersey, and another (better-known) Penn Station in New York City. Both are served by Amtrak and New Jersey Transit. I don't know much about Newark, but the Penn Station in NYC should be all right if you're not hanging around there at say, three in the morning.

It's a very busy station thus you can find all kinds of characters there. Mostly people are coming and going and busy in themselves. If you survived New York you will survive Penn Station. Just use your best judgement and a healthy dose of caution.
